OK, so everything has been moved and tested over there. There's just one problem... the domain name won't resolve properly. As in when you type in drivewesaid.com in your browser it won't go to the right IP address and server.
The hosting monkeys are working on it and I've been told it will be fixed within the next couple of hours. So, please sit tight, and thanks for your patience.

I was just thinking that, DH. This part is actually the easy part, but with a VPS, you can't do it yourself. I know the company where DWS is hosted--done business with them for years. Are you dealing with ThePlanet directly, or through a third-party? Because normally they're really on the ball.
ReplyDeleteThem directly. This "cloud" stuff is new so they're still figuring stuff out.
ReplyDeleteAll it is really is repackaged virtualization, a la VPS. "Cloud" my ass.
The main problem now is propagating changes from their name servers, which is outside the control panel. They're telling me now it make take up to four hours from when they did it at @10:35 AM central, so it will still take a bit yet.
BTW, outside of this, I'm with you, Kevin. The Planet isn't a bad outfit at all. And if I need to scream down necks in person, they've got a huge facility here in Dallas.

I wanted to link to an article, and it apparently isn't accepting my own HTML or the quick link feature adjacent to the post box.

ReplyDeleteI tested it last night using our IP address with a few tweaks to our config files and posting worked OK for me. I can't tell anything until drivewesaid.com resolves for me.
BTW, try going to drivewesaid.com without the www and see what happens.

ReplyDeleteSomething very odd with the Parenting thread, too. "The latest" indicates that there's a new post, but when you click on it, you go nowhere. Selecting "recent" in that thread lets you scroll to the end, but there's nothing new after pk's image of a running-away letter.

And suddenly, I can't see a single post in that thread, or in Communerd Glasnost (where I did all the previous posts thta had no problems). Yet in other threads, everything seems fine. For now.
